George Spyropoulos

Chairman

George Spyropoulos was born in Athens in 1963. He holds a degree in Physics from the University of Patras and a Master of Philosophy (Eng) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK.
With extensive experience in technology, operations, and the electronic payments sector, George has held leadership positions both in Greece and internationally. For several years, he served as the Head of Operations at ALPHA BANK, overseeing the support for payments, financing, and investment products. He also served as a board member of DIAS S.A., where he held the position of Vice Chairman, acted as a management consultant at ALPHA BANK Serbia, and was a founding member of the Coordinating Committee for Payments and Functions of the Hellenic Bank Association for the national transition to SEPA.
As a board member of DIAS, George initiated reforms in collaboration with public entities, including the establishment of the Unified Payments Authority, the IRIS Payments system, electronic toll collection, the digital signature, and the electronic invoicing system.
Currently, he is Director of Operational Excellence at the Hellenic Public Properties. Ιn 2023 he was elected as President of the Executive Committee of the Center for Economic, Social Research and Training GOING FORWARD.

Constantin Zafiratos

Secretary General

Constantin boasts over 35 years of expertise in the banking sector, primarily in IT, with the last two decades dedicated to managerial roles overseeing critical facets of Alpha Bank.
Throughout his professional journey, he undertook the implementation of significant projects utilizing innovative technologies, successfully completing pivotal initiatives such as the development of a new customer management system for the Alpha Bank Group, bank mergers, conversion of physical securities into dematerialized forms, and the introduction of Robotics Process Automation (RPAs).
Guided by the core principle of applying pioneering technology to improve living and working conditions, Konstantinos remains actively involved in domains like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Process Management, contributing as a driving force for the Center’s initiatives.

Constantine Theodorakis

Vice President

Konstantinos is an economist and a member of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, currently holding a senior position at the National Bank of Greece.
He holds a postgraduate degree in Tourism Management from the University of Piraeus, where he successfully completed his studies. Konstantinos is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Fund, a certified adult trainer, and a collaborating lecturer at the Independent Studies of Science & Technology (IST), an Institute of Industrial and Professional Training affiliated with the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and Industries, TUV Academy, APEX, and other educational institutions. He actively participates in educational programs covering management, marketing, and various economic topics.

Martha Kanner

Vice President

Martha is a seasoned banking executive with extensive experience in leadership roles, primarily in the field of payment cards. From May 2021 to May 2023, she served as the head of Cards at Alpha Bank. From 2010 to 2021, Martha held the position of Deputy Director of the Cards and Consumer Credit Products Department at Alpha Bank, overseeing the bank’s payment card products. Her responsibilities included the design and development of these products, portfolio management for cardholder clients, as well as the initiation of projects for the enhancement and modernization of card payment systems.
Previously, Martha worked as a Senior Product Manager, overseeing the bank’s card products and Customer Rewards Programs. Martha, since 2004, was responsible for creating and evolving the highly successful & internationally recognized Bonus Rewards Program.

In her earlier career, Martha worked in the Treasury department of Alpha Bank, supporting interbank Money Market & FX transactions. She also led the team responsible for supporting financial derivatives transactions.
Martha is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics Sciences at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Gerasimos Fokas

Finance Secretary

Gerasimos, is an Experienced Tax Director with a demonstrated history of working in the banking industry.
Skilled in Risk Management, Transfer Pricing, Financial Structuring, Corporate Finance and Financial Products. Strong academic background graduated from the Law Scholl of University of Athens and Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium.
Formulate Alpha Group’s tax management policy. Participate in the development of new strategies and launch of new products. Propose structures in order to minimize tax risk. Address complex issues such as merger and acquisition, group restructuring, cross border transactions; transfer pricing, significant capital expenditures. Dealing with the tax audits in order to manage each phase of the audit process and handle the issues arising from the investigation.

Penelope Amelidou

Penelope, has an over 25 years expertise in banking, showcasing proficiency in Corporate Affairs, Stakeholder Management, ESG, and Human Resources. Her recent education sector experience underscores proficiency in financial planning and strategic planning. As a seasoned executive, she aligns corporate strategies with everyday operations, drives transformative initiatives, and establishes new sectors, showcasing exceptional stakeholder engagement and adaptability in diverse environments.
With a current focus on ESG & Sustainability, Penelope spearheads initiatives for an internal revamping and a cultural shift, advocating mindset changes, and seamlessly integrating sustainable practices. Fluent in Greek, English, and Spanish, with advanced Italian skills and conversational French proficiency, Penelope holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the American College of Greece, a Master’s in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and, most recently, an Executive Master in Sustainability Transition Management from the Bologna Business School.

Konstantinos Apostolou

Konstantinos was born in Athens in 1970.
He graduated from the 1st Experimental Gymnasium-Lyceum of Athens and studied Accounting & Financial Management at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Business Administration and Economics at the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece.
Since 1992, he has been working at Alpha Bank, holding various positions. He was a Financial Analyst in the Financial Services department from 1992 to 2003, a Finance & Accounting Area Audit Manager for the entire Alpha Bank Group from 2003 to 2014, and has been a key member of the Bank’s Operations since 2015.
Currently, he holds the position of Data Services Operations Manager.
Konstantinos is a member of the Hellenic Institute of Internal Auditors and a Certified CICA Regular of the “Institute for Internal Control”.

Tasos Giatis

Tasos works at Alpha Bank and he is the President of the Employees at Alpha Bank, a member of the Board of Directors of the GSEE (General Confederation of Greek Workers), a member of the Executive Secretariat of OTOE (Federation of Bank Employees Unions). He is also the leader of the independent union faction: “UNITY – Strength of Responsibility and Prospects,” which is represented in dozens of unions (banks, telecommunications, transportation, insurance companies, etc.).

Michalis Michalakos

Michalis is a senior banking executive with more than 30 years’ experience across the full banking spectrum, from retail and corporate banking to IT systems and regulatory compliance.
He has led strategic process-redesign initiatives, overseeing end-to-end workflows while safeguarding efficiency, accuracy and cost control.
He directed project teams during the mergers of major banking institutions, achieving seamless integration of customer bases, products and platforms with minimal operational downtime. He pioneered and deployed cutting-edge digital-transformation tools—Robotics Process Automation, e-Signature and workflow orchestration—delivering substantial productivity gains. He has managed portfolios comprising thousands of clients, focusing on superior customer experience and profitability growth.
Michalis couples strong project and change-management skills with deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, ensuring full compliance.
He is widely recognized for his leadership style, analytical mindset and ability to turn complex challenges into tangible operational improvements.

Christina Livada

Associate Professor of Commercial Law at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and has served as a Special Legal Expert at Alpha Bank for the past six years.
She completed postgraduate studies at Panthéon Assas University (Paris II) under a Latsis Foundation scholarship and earned her Ph.D. at the NKUA Law School.

Director of Central Procurement Management at Alpha Bank, with three decades of professional experience in Operations and Information Technology, nearly 20 of which in senior management positions.

Holder of a degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Electronics, P/H, and Automation from the University of Athens.
He served as Director of the IT Systems Division at Alpha Bank and currently works at Unisystems as a Program Manager, overseeing major projects in the banking sector.

Vasileios Panagiotidis

Athanasios Stathopoulos

Graduate of the School of Management and Economics of Patras, Department of Accounting. Specialized in Cost Accounting, Taxation, Financial Analysis, Evaluation of Shipping Loans, and Investment Options. He has been a trainer at the Attica Bank Training Center and is currently President of the Attica Bank Employees Association and a member of the General Council of OTOE.

Holder of a Business Administration degree from the Athens University of Economics and Business and an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France).
With extensive international experience, he is now the Chief Retail Distribution Officer at Alpha Bank.

Spyridon Tzamtzis

Graduate in Geology/ Geophysics from the School of Sciences at the University of Athens. Holds an MBA in Operations Research and Business Administration from the National Technical University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has worked for the Hellenic Aerospace Industry and later joined Alpha Bank. He is now the Executive General Manager of IT – CIO.

Panagiotis Chabesys

Head of the Development Programs and ESG Division of the Hellenic Bank Association and a trainer at the Hellenic Banking Institute in ESG & Sustainable Finance topics.
He holds a degree in Business Administration and an MBA. He represents the HBA in various committees and working groups in Public Administration.

Damianos Charalampidis

Holder of a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from John Moors University, Liverpool, and a Master’s in Digital Electronics from the University of Manchester. Former Executive General Manager of Alpha Bank and General Manager at all three mobile telecommunications providers in Greece.

Ioannis Arkadianos

Medical doctor, graduate of the Medical School of the University of Athens. Elected President and co-founder of the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization based in Geneva, and a pioneering physician in Lifestyle Medicine in Europe.
Lecturer in postgraduate programs at universities in Greece and abroad, and speaker at scientific conferences worldwide. He holds the SCOPE certification (Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education) from the World Obesity Federation. Since 2015, he has been a Council Member of the True Health Initiative.

George Giannopoulos

Physician, graduate of Warrington College, England, with a Medical degree specializing in Surgery. Trained at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (South Africa) and Mass General Hospital (Harvard University). He has been awarded for his work, including “Leriche and the Milestones in Vascular Studies,” presented at the Panhellenic Medical History Conference. Currently a Surgeon at the Hygeia Hospital Surgical Clinic.

Elina Gika

Doctor of Psychology (Panteion University), Clinical Psychologist – Psychotherapist, and Diabetes Educator. Head of the Mental Health Department at “MITERA” General Clinic. Holds a Master’s (D.U.P.P.) in Adult Psychopathology (University Paris V – Descartes – Sorbonne) and a degree in Developmental and Clinical Psychology (University of Rouen). She is also a published author.

George Stavropoulos

Matina Pagoni

President of the Panhellenic Medical Association (PIS).
Specialized in Pathology with further training at the Athens Medical School and the Institute of Arteriosclerosis Research at Wilhelms University, Münster, Germany.
She completed her Doctorate at the Medical School.

Katerina Tatsi

Graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specialized in Pathology.
She attended the Annual Postgraduate Course in Cardiometabolic Risk Factors Management and several other training programs. Currently, she is a Medical Associate at Polyclinics and a physician in the Pathology Department at “MITERA” and “IASO” private clinics.

Alexandros Venianakis

Holder of a degree in Physical Education and Sports Science from the Gymnastics Academy of Athens (University of Athens). Certified in Special Fitness Nutrition (National Academy of Sports Nutrition, Arizona) and Spinning. He writes articles on Sports and Workplace Fitness.

Pyrros Dimas

Greece’s most celebrated modern athlete and a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist in weightlifting. Inducted into the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame in 2009. WADA Ambassador against doping in sports. In 2017, he became the Technical Director of the U.S. National Weightlifting Team. Former Member of Parliament (Proportional Representation).

Lambros Papakostas

Greece’s top high jumper, National Champion, and World Champion.
Holder of the Greek record in both indoor and outdoor track with jumps of 2.35m and 2.36m, respectively.
Currently a coach in athletics with his own sports facility at OAKA and a consultant for the Track and Field Federation.

Greek Long Jump Champion with a major distinction at the World Athletics Championships in Indianapolis.

Dionysios Aktypis

Insurance Executive. Graduate of the Hellenic Institute of Insurance Studies with a specialization in Bancassurance products. Certified in Customer Service and Relationship Management in collaboration with the University of Piraeus. Former AXA Insurance Executive. Currently, Sales Network Manager at ORIZON 1964 Insurance.

Athanasios Anteriotis

Graduate of the Center for Continuing and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Holder of an M.Sc. in Business Management and an Executive Professional Certificate in Strategic Audit from the Metropolitan School (UK). Professional analyst with experience in financial institutions.

Stelios Aronis

Holds a master’s degree in Corporate Finance from Brunel University (UK) and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

Manolis Varanakis

Economics graduate from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a Master’s in Economics and Banking from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
Currently working in Financial Services at Alpha Bank, responsible for preparing the Group’s financial reports for the Bank of Greece and the European Central Bank.
